External Linking

ATTENTION!
This feature requires Windows NT or Windows 2000 or better. It is not supported on the Windows 95/98/Me.
The Cy Scanner Pro application may be configured so that when the new alert is received by an Alert Window or a user double-clicks on alert in the Alert Window, the alert symbol is sent as a text to the external (linked) window which belongs to other application. See "Actions" section below for more information.
The symbol also could be sent manually by using "Set Up External Linking" window. This window is displayed when you select the "External Linking…" menu item in the Main Window's "Tools" menu:

To link the external window with the Cy Scanner Pro application, drag the crosshairs into that window. If the window is valid for external linking, its name will be added to the list of linked windows at the bottom of the "Set Up External Linking" window.
 You can then use the "Set Up External Linking" window's controls to send symbols to the linked windows. Select one or more linked windows from the list using mouse with Ctrl and Shift keys.
 Type the symbol you want to send in the "Symbol:" edit and press the "Send to Selected Windows" button to send the symbol only to selected windows, or the "Send to All Windows" to send the symbol to all linked windows in the list.
 You can use the "Remove Selected Window" button to remove window from the list of linked windows.
 You can use the "Refresh Window List" button to refresh the list of linked windows.

Actions

Actions are operations performed while handling different types of events. Currently there are two types of events supported:

  • "New Alert" – a new alert received by Alert Window;
  • "Alert Clicked" - user clicked on the alert inside Alert Window.
  • "Alert Double-Clicked" - user double-clicked on the alert inside Alert Window.

Currently the following actions are supported for handling the "New Alert" event:

  • Beep – play the simple beep sound;
  • Show alert window – show the alert window in the normal state (if it was minimized) and bring it to front;
  •  Send to linked windows – send the alert symbol to all external linked windows (see "External Linking" section above for information about how to setup external linking)

ATTENTION! Please note, the actions for the "New Alert" event only make sense for an Alert Window that doesn't get many alerts.
Currently the following actions are supported for handling the " Alert Clicked " and " Alert Double-Clicked " events:

  • Send to linked windows – send the alert symbol to all external linked windows (see "External Linking" section above for information about how to setup external linking)

There are two types of action settings -  Global actions and Alert Window actions.
The Global actions are configured using "Global Actions" button in the Main Window.  When this button is pressed, the following dialog is displayed:

Select type of action you want to perform and press the "OK" button. The default Global action – is to do nothing when the new alert received by alert window and send the symbol to the linked windows when the user double-clicks the alert.
